Earlier this month I provided an outline for an action-oriented analytics dashboard. Today I just wanted to reiterate a few key facts.
With all the graphs and reports that come standard in any analytic tool, it can be overwhelming to know how to repopulate that data to create actionable and meaningful dashboards. Most analysts just review the basics (visitors, pageviews, bounce rate, etc.) week after week or even worse, automated dashboard emails. Flat out, these metrics are not telling management anything.
So what should your dashboard look like? Here is the outline for an ideal dashboard report:
